James D. Franklin joined HAR-BRO in 1981 as an estimator
and project manager. He quickly learned every facet of this growing
organization. Since 1986, and in his current role as President, he has
managed the sales, production and administrative functions of the corporation.
As a veteran of the industry, Franklin has developed his
outstanding construction expertise through his dedication to high quality
and customer satisfaction.
For over 43 years, HAR-BRO has specialized in the restoration
of properties damaged due to fire, water, earthquake or other catastrophes.
Franklin’s construction project experience includes high-rise
buildings, large-scale commercial office and residential complexes,
multi-family structures, condominiums, commercial tilt-up and high-end
residential projects. He has worked with both private and public
sector clients, on insurance restoration, tenant improvement and new
construction projects.
Franklin has been personally involved in a number of
large projects including the restoration of the Westwood Marquis and
the Sheraton Hotel in Los Angeles. Most notably among the projects
managed by Franklin is the Wilshire Terrace. When this 86 unit
luxury-condominium-complex in Los Angeles was severely damaged by fire,
HAR-BRO was the chosen contractor. As the general contractor on
this $30 million project, Franklin directed the work of seven superintendents
and more than 300 tradesmen. Franklin’s high standards of
quality workmanship and customer service were successfully demonstrated
throughout this challenging project with high-end construction details
and high profile customers.
In the aftermath of the 1994 Northridge Earthquake,
Franklin managed the large expansion of the company to meet the needs
of the public. The company grew to over 300 employees in a six-month
period and was involved in numerous multi-million-dollar losses.
Franklin’s vision and dedication were instrumental in maintaining
the high level of quality production necessary to accomplish these projects
in an expedient manner and help hundreds of people return to their homes.
Franklin is also the RMO (Registered Member Officer)
for the company’s contractor’s license in Nevada and Arizona,
which allows the company to conduct business in those states.
Today, over 250 employees in nine locations look to
Franklin as a source of leadership, knowledge and experience.
With a hands-on approach and a team of outstanding project managers,
Franklin is empowered to enforce his dedication to quality and customer
satisfaction.
He has served as a Director for the Volunteers of America
from 1996 to 2000, Director
of El Dorado Bank from 1997 to 2000, past President of the
Huntington Youth Shelter Foundation Board and was a Director for the Commercial Industrial Building Owner's Alliance
(CIBA) from its conception through 2005.
Mr. Franklin is also the Chairman of the Board for the
Free Wheelchair
Mission and is a member of the Southern California Chapter of the Young Presidents Organization
(YPO).
