After Devastating Fire, HAR-BRO Noted for Care, Communication, Camaraderie by Happy Client
“Thanks to their knowledge and communication, we have a nicer house than we had before the fire.” – Rod Simpson, Portland
It started with just one candle, but turned into a major fire. In November 2010, Rod Simpson’s rental home in Portland caught fire when some burning candles tipped over one afternoon. No one was hurt, but the house was destroyed in a matter of minutes.
He said, “it was one of the worst times, not knowing where to turn and what to do. I interviewed six different contractors of all sizes, but left every meeting unsatisfied and uncertain. Then I found a Har-Bro business card in the door and decided to interview one more contracting team.”
Simpson met with Rob Gross, Branch Manager for Har-Bro in Portland, and his team at the house one night after work, during the busy holiday season.
“It was dark and cold that time of year, and every other contractor I met with made me bring my own flashlight so I could show them around,” Simpson added. “Har-Bro brought their own generator and had flood lights set up when I arrived. I could immediately tell that they were more on top of what they were doing and more in control of what they were doing, which made me feel more secure and taken care of during such a challenging time.”
Despite the extent of the fire, Har-Bro Emergency Services and Restoration was able to save part of the house, then a Har-Bro crew gutted the interior, removed the roof and installed new plumbing, electrical, HVAC, drywall, siding and more. They worked with Simpson to redesign and improve the living space, creating a more functional floor plan, a beautiful brick façade and even a custom number inset in the brick.
“They helped us understand what was important and available throughout the rebuilding process. I was never left in the dark. Thanks to their knowledge and communication, we have a nicer house than we had before,” Simpson said. “I also appreciated how Har-Bro worked with our insurance company to build a good relationship for everyone’s benefit.”
In addition, weekly meetings between Har-Bro and the client kept everyone up-to-date and even expedited the rebuilding process. They assured Simpson that Har-Bro had his best interests in mind and was staying on track and on time.
“Har-Bro was awarded the job because we were prepared, professional and thoughtful. In the end, we created a brand-new house that is built to last,” added Gross.
“I built a relationship with Har-Bro that goes beyond just a business relationship. The communication and camaraderie were outstanding from start to finish,” Simpson concluded.
