Har-Bro Emergency Services Dries Down a 20 Plus Floor Building

Seattle, WA – In the heart of downtown Seattle, a 20 plus floor office building suffered through hours of water damage from a broken 1 ½ inch pipe on the 18th floor with thousands of gallons of water leaking all the way down to the lobby!

The Chief Engineer for the property called Har-Bro Emergency Services at 6:30 am and within 90 minutes; Har-Bro arrived fully equipped. They immediately began the water extraction process and set up approximately 500 pieces of dry down equipment including four trailer-mounted desiccant dehumidifiers and their required power generators.

For the next seven days, Har-Bro had a crew in excess of 40 working around the clock to dry down the building. The elevator was inaccessible for most of the first day which required the Har-Bro team to carry the heavy dry down equipment up the stairs to the affected floors!

Though floors 17 and 18 were saturated necessitating removal of carpeting and much drywall to facilitate drying, Har-Bro was successful in saving the critical elevator and stairwell shafts! Additionally, throughout the drying process, only tenants on the 17th and 18th floors needed to be relocated to other parts of the building and Har-Bro was able to complete effective drying while maintaining occupancy of the other parts of the building!

By the 6th day, Har-Bro was able to get the building 98% dry and the independent environmental consultant retained by the building managers proclaimed the drying process successful and allowed the reconstruction process to begin immediately! Har-Bro has now begun the repairs of walls, ceilings, flooring and paint, coordinating with the individual tenants to minimize any business interruption and maximize tenant retention.
