Fire Damage – Har-Bro Steps in to stabilize the building!
Norwalk, CA – Har-Bro provided emergency shoring to a concrete tilt-up industrial building that endured a fire loss in Norwalk CA. This particular “exterior” shoring required a concrete footing to hold up the brace; otherwise known as adding a “Deadman”. Typically, “deadmen” shoring is required when no structurally suitable anchoring of the brace is available.
To proceed with providing this type of stabilization to a building, a section of the asphalt or soft flooring must be removed and then concrete gets poured into the ground. This area will create a strong base for the brace to use as an anchor. Most times, deadmen are anchored to the interior slap of the building, but in the case of contents inside the building, obstruction or due to safety issues, the anchoring will need to be done on the outsite.
When reconstruction is completed, the “deadmen” anchor points will be filled in to level off evenly and the holes in the wall of the tilt up will be filled in as well.
For this job in Norwalk, CA, the shoring was completed within a few days. The process entailed coordination with engineering inspections, city inspections, and city approval of engineering plans and details.
